Headache

Headaches in children are common and usually aren't serious. Like adults, children get the same types of headaches that adults do, such as tension headaches and migraines. The pain can be dull and throbbing, sharp and pinpointed, and last from a few minutes to a few days. Most headaches in children are due to an illness, infection, cold, or fever.

HOW TO TREAT YOUR CHILDREN'S HEADACHE

Children do get headaches. They usually say things like, “My head hurts.” Headaches in children may be caused by an illness or a viral infection. In older children, it could be related to over-excitement, tension, stress or a vision problem.

To relieve a mild headache, lay your child down in a quiet, darkened room with a cool face washer on their forehead. If the headache persists, give them painkillers such as Panadol® Children's Suspension 1-6 Years for temporary relief, and watch them closely.

Headaches in children – when to worry

Some headaches could be the sign of something more serious. If your child has severe or frequent headaches, or complains of a headache along with fever, drowsiness or vomiting, contact your doctor or local hospital immediately.
